Dale of Norway

Lately, I have been looking through all of my yarn stash and I am finding all kinds of Dalegarn patterns.  I remember the days when a new Olympic Commemorative pattern would come out every winter Olympics.  My online friends and I would get our pattern and yarn ordered and we would cast on while watching the opening ceremonies.   I really miss those days.  Dale of Norway put out the best designs.  They discontinued Heilo yarn, used in these designs, and they have discontinued selling the yarn or patterns to the U.S.  I could probably get it mailed from Norway but it somehow all feels different.

So, naturally, my attention went elsewhere - to fair isles, socks, mittens, hats... but I will  never forget Dale of Norway.  Probably 30+ years ago I saw my first Dale of Norway design, Kongle, in a yarn shop and I purchased the pattern hoping some day I could knit it.   I have knit just about everything but this design.   The original yarn for this has been discontinued but I will substitute Rauma Strikkegarn.  One way or another, I will knit this.  My first Dale of Norway Love.  The one that got me hooked.  :sigh:

Projects

Boy do I have projects galore!  I have been knitting up socks like no one's business; they're easy, quick and mindless knitting while binge watching whatever I binge watch on Netflix.

I started the Quill shawl from Brooklyn Tweed and it will take approximately forever to get through the center part before getting to the exciting part.

I also have been struggling to get through Grey Day Setesdal sweater.  Thanks to my friends, Lorraine and Cynthia - I have learned quite a bit in rewriting the pattern, which is pretty much what I've had to do.  However, I shall persevere, and it will get finished.

For the past 20 years or so, I really haven't been around that much on the blogosphere and I have lost contact with people and favorite online places.  If anyone reads this and knows who I am - drop me a comment and tell me where you are.  I would really love to reconnect!

I will add some photos when I can.
